Landscape of Relations

A project about the distance in relationships between people. I visualized this invisible but certainly tangible distance in this personal project.

On the photo above you can see my grandparents on both sides and in the middle my parents at their wedding. Everyone beams with joy and stands arm in arm except my grandfather on the right. The distance between my mother and grandfather is mainly due to cultural differences and you can feel that in this photo. To visualize this, I stretched the part between the two. The result was that the part transformed into an abstract image, something I call the 'landscape of the relationship'.

I exhibited the project in a long narrow hall, so that people could not distance themselves from the image. In this way people had to walk through the landscape, as it were, to see and understand the entire image.
